Curtis Coast Literary Carnivale Program announced

The Curtis Coast Literary Carnivale program is released today, and will once again include the very popular Write On! one day series of workshops for members of the general public.

Adults and teenagers are invited to attend this intensive program on Sunday 24 July 2016 at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, in which a choice of four workshops will be offered. Alternative sessions from 9.00am to 11.30am will be: A Special Silly Event with Gregg Dreise or Write Well: Effective Strategies for Creative Writing with Jacqueline Harvey. Alternative sessions from 12.30pm to 3.00pm will be No Rules Cartooning with Dave Hackett or Illustrating Picture Books with Lucia Masciullo.

If participants attend both a morning and afternoon workshop, lunch will be included. The program concludes with the panel discussion on writing, illustrating and publishing at 3.15pm to 4.15pm chaired by Robyn Sheahan-Bright, in which local author Kathryn Apel will join the four visiting presenters. Cost per workshop is $30 with the panel discussion free to participants.

A literary dinner will also be held that evening at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre at 6.30pm, with details to be advised.

Where else in CQ can you access the skills of such nationally and internationally acclaimed creators in one space for a day? Take advantage of this remarkable series of professional development activities, and have fun too!

Workshop participants will also be able to view the exhibition of the work of the three visiting illustrators – The Picture Book Art of Gregg Dreise, Dave Hackett and Lucia Masciullo – which will be launched at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum on Monday 25 July 2016, at 6.00pm, and will be on display from 9 July–13 August 2016.

Authors and illustrators to attend the seventh biennial festival from 24 –27 July 2016 are: Kathryn Apel, Gregg Dreise, Dave Hackett (Cartoon Dave), Jacqueline Harvey and Lucia Masciullo.

School sessions and workshops will be held from Monday 25–Wednesday 27 July 2016 at CQUniversity Australia, and at Tannum Sands State School and Calliope State School.

Bookings for each of these events will open on Friday 22 April 2016 with the release of booking forms.
